Upcoming Video

After some thinking and listening to many songs trying to find a perfect one for my Parkour Video, I have decided on the Comanche remix by Heyoka. It is short, powerful, simple, and I am really digging it a lot. Be sure to check it out below. There’s been a lot of thinking about what I should do for a video and my friends have gotten some filming done over the past few days, not sure if any will make it into a personal video but expect that footage to be out pretty soon anyway.
I am basically just planning out some shots and spots that I want to have in the video, its going to be around 3 minutes which is pretty short but I really do not want to drag on a video too long so I think it is a good length. I will have more information about that when there is more to say.

Ninja Warrior Dreams

American Ninja Warrior 3 just happened, the sad thing is that I was not old enough. Oh, I also must admit I am not quite ready to step onto the course against the likes of Brian Orosco and Paul Kasemir.

Check the 'stache

I have a year to prepare my body and mind(and facial hair) for America’s Sauske competition, but lucky for me I have the privilege to train with some of the best traceurs in the country in boulder. Out of 10 official Apex Movement athletes who went to Venice Beach this year to compete, 5 made it to the top 30 to move onto Stage 2. Out of those, 3 made it into the top 15, move on to the Ninja Warrior Bootcamp, and will be on TV this summer when the series airs. It would be 4, but one of them got place number 16.

I am going to make damn sure that by the time the open call for ninja warrior happens, I will be ready in every way to compete. My biggest concern right now is improving grip strength and my physical endurance when exhausted after an obstacle course. Heres to dreaming of me standing victorious at the top of Mt. Midoriyama

Back to Work Slackers!

Guess what, the world didn’t end. That means life resumes as normal for everyone but one man: “Macho Man” Randy Savage. His passing just before the claimed Rapture really stuck a chord with me as I knew he would be up in heaven fighting the good fight to keep us all alive and kicking. Thanks for all the memories Macho Man, you were an amusing personality that always lightened up the mood whenever you showed up. You were Bonesaw in the first Spiderman film. You were the Rasslor in an episode of Dexter’s Lab. You were a character in your own right! You will be missed greatly Mr. Savage.

I am basically just making this post as an excuse to use this picture on my blog because it is so epic that it bears repeating.

No description needed

Since the world Didn’t end like they were predicting, I guess that means we all gotta get back to working hard and making the world a better place or something like that. I know I am taking this opportunity of not being dead to read more comic books. I recently started re-reading the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. I also have taken an interest in the Top Cow universe, which is the WItchblade and The Darkness stories. More on those whenever I get around to reading more.

Aside from doing more reading, I have begun working on a writing project. Not much to say about it right now, but know that it is a non-fiction book about Depression. After all, I am a Psychology nerd arent I? Yes. Yes I am.

XNA, Lovecraft, and a whole lot of Starcraft 2

Ahhh Summer, the one chance I have to enjoy the finer things in life. During the school year, I am far too busy to sit down and play video games for longer than an hour, something I am trying to fix for next year for sure.

With this free time comes a rare opportunity to do something I enjoy greatly – Reading books for fun! My friend Cody suggested to me that I get around to reading the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Thankfully, he has been dead for such a long time that all of his works have fallen out of Copyright and are available online for free in whatever form, including epub which I have put on my Barnes and Noble Nook for easy enjoyment on the go.

Cthulhu says hi!

Now that I have a solid 3 days of time to relax, I get to catch up on my Starcraft 2 between my reading adventures. Right now I am only a silver league Terran player, but I am always looking to try the other races, perhaps I should play some Random and just see how far I can make it. At this point, I am pretty sure I watch a lot more Starcraft than I play games. Gotta fix that soon.

With an Artosis Pylon

I had set out to not only get in shape and have fun this summer, but also to keep my mind active and engaged. Thus far I have been pretty successful in the first two but I am going to begin reading more tutorials and programming books whenever I get the free time to sit down with some coffee at a computer. Specifically, I have the aspiration to learn how to make games and I know that a great tool to get started making games relatively quick is Microsoft XNA. I picked up a book last month for the summer and I have begun digging into it. Nothing exciting to post yet, but I should have some interesting mini games or 2D games to show off in the upcoming months.

Here Fishy Fishy!

The summer shows much promise for fun, I just need to keep busy. I hope to have some serious projects started, keep your eyes on my site to keep your eyes on some cool stuff happening over the summer.

Dedication

Just the word Dedication brings up some strong imagery. What drives us to devote ourselves to something to the point of it hurting you? What would cause someone to do muscle ups until their hand bleeds?
The other day I did that exact thing, at the bottom is a picture of my hand taken shortly after. Only recently have I become strong enough to perform muscle ups and I decided to stay late one night at Apex Movement and see how many I could get before I would stop. I also made a little bet with my friend Justin who was sitting by watching. The wager was that he would buy me a beer if I could make it to 11, I pulled out 21!
I guess dedication and motivation could be best summarized as something tangible. Also beer.

Getting Back on Track

Wow, so quickly and I have already fallen out of routine. I over estimated the power of vacation. An executive decision has been made by yours truly, I am going to take a week off of my routine exercise for vacation. I am still gonna try to keep up on doing something everyday, I still have parkour today after all. I will resume this upcoming Monday back on the routine of weighing myself and running a lot. Until then, I am going to enjoy the vacation I have to its fullest and not worry about health thing. I will begin freaking about that later!

Tonight’s The Night

Tonight marks the beginning of a hopefully permanent lifestyle change regarding my health and fitness. I am basically going to start exercising more regularly and keeping track of my progress on this site. I have setup a page which embeds a google form of data. This is going to share my results with you all and it will help keep me motivated to keep going on this journey. What is the point of all this? Well aside from wanting to be healthy in general, it will help me in my practicing of Parkour in a very direct way. The more fit and in shape I am, the further I can jump, the longer I can last, the more technical things I am capable of.

With this practical goal in mind, I know that it won’t be as easy as it sounds right now. I am not planning on doing a crash diet, nor working myself to the bone. I plan to do parkour 3 days a week, do either weight lifting orĀ calisthenicsĀ 3 days a week, and jogging daily. On top of the fitness, I am going to be re-evaluating my diet and finding ways I can easily improve on. Quickly I can rule out energy drinks, soda, and fast food. The hardest thing for me is going to be resisting Chipotle(Nooooo!) when I am really hungry. Less Calories and proper nutrition are going to be the goal here. With these two things in mind, I hope I can keep this lifestyle going by far longer than I can keep this page going. Until then, sit back and enjoy my pain on the Exercise page in the navigation!
